Students return to work experience placements after the summer holidays

Students at Fairfield Farm College have been enjoying getting back to a variety of different work experience roles after the summer holidays.

Fairfield Farm College has worked closely with the Canal & River Trust over the past few years, and a new set of students got stuck in, helping with a variety of different jobs. The students got involved in sorting out some bridge steps and making them fit for use. Four out of five students were on their first external work experience placement, and all of them said they enjoyed themselves, despite the weather.

More work experience students enjoyed working with Wainwright Quarry and Somerset Earth Science Centre. Fairfield Farm College have a long standing partnership with Wainwright and over the years many students have had the opportunity to take part in supported work experience placements. Our latest group had a great time and enjoyed being able to see the vehicles working at the quarry.

After COVID-19 stopped work experience placements last year, students had a great time being back at Palmer Gardens. They all got to use a variety of different tools and got stuck into some grounds maintenance. For 5 out of the 6 students attending, this was the first time they have been off site on work experience so a big well done for everyone who got stuck in.
